Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Man is born in sin. No sin is allowed into Heaven. So man cannot get into Heaven.
Oh how I praise and thank the Lord that it doesn’t just end there! If it did, then I would only have a burning lake of fire to greet me when, to this world, I close my eyes for the last time. But instead, I have God in Heaven waiting for me to come home. And all because of the WORK He alone has done.
God’s WORK was to send His Son into this world to die for my sins; for my so-called ‘good’ WORKS that could NEVER take away my sin. On the Cross of Calvary, the Lord Jesus Christ (God in the flesh) who was without sin, died for me, was buried, and rose again three days later.
In verse 40 of the same chapter of John, I read about God’s “will”, and the fact that He wants me to believe on the work that the Lord Jesus Christ did on the Cross; the perfect, sacrificial Lamb who shed His perfect, sinless Blood for me.
Only by doing the WILL of God by believing in His WORK are my sins forgiven. And only by trusting Him alone will all of Heaven greet me when I die.
Dear Lord, I thank you for doing the work that enabled me to be saved from my sins and Hell. I thank you for forgiving me of my sin when I believed what YOU had done for me, and I called out to you for forgiveness. I look forward so much to seeing you in Heaven when I leave these earth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
